The current soundtrack is unconventional, but it seems to work well and doesn’t need replacing.
The sound-effects all need replacing.
There are 5 core sound-effects used on all screens, and 10 specific to the match screen.
It would be nice for some of the major effects (Gaining breath, which is this game’s alternative to mana) and each card to also have their own sound effect, but this is lower priority.
Feedback after first submission
- SFX are much softer than the music
- When music and sfx are at the same volume, very hard to heard sfx.
- Should I lower the music volume instead of you tweaking each of the sfx?
- Core ui sfx generally great
- We’re taking out hover - it doesn’t show up in similar games, it is too hard to make it sound good.
- Using alternates for open/close is confusing, we may just use 1 for the normal situation, and could use the other in some other context.
- In match sfx mostly work, but the card sound don’t integrate well with the other (music / breath sounds) in all cases
- In brief: Win, Lose, Tie, Draw, Discard, Create are all very good
- Pass, shuffle, play, resolve should be changed / tweaked
- People do like the music aspect of when we play, opponent plays, or a card resolves
- See the below Feedback column of the table for more details.

Sound Effects
Desires for the sound-effects:
- Cohesive with each other, with the artistic vision, and art assets.
- Meets user expectation (If hearing the sound but not seeing the screen, user should be able to guess what is happening)
- Fits with its frequency / rapidity (If a sound happens 4 times in a second, needs to sound good in that case)
Issues with the current sound-effects:
- Sounds aren’t consistent with themselves, and in most cases don’t fit with what’s happening on the screen or make sense with the theme
